Understanding Feng Shui

What in the world is Feng Shui, and how does it contribute to your naturally healthy lifestyle? Well, in more ways than you might have imagined.

Feng Shui is the ancient and discrete art of specific placement and positive chi(energy). The belief system involves a mix of religious, cosmetic, and even mathematical ideas. By definition, it means "the way of wind and water"

For hundreds of years, the Asian culture has used these techniques to provide a happier and more energetic life. The good news is that it's something that anyone can learn.

Feng Shui advocates living in harmony with the environment and to balance your lifestyle and home with the forces of nature. These forces of nature include the two primary forces; the chi, which is positive energy and shar chi which is the negative energy. This is the Yin Yang.

Feng Shui Home These forces are opposites, but are not in opposition to one another. They are complementary and need eachother to exist and to survive.

The key is to use the flow of this energy in dictating how we live our lives. One must be aware of the energy flows and how they are transmitted. For example, having live plants in as many rooms as possible is a symbol of vitality and allows the positive chi to flow througout your home.

With a little feng shui, anyone can improve their health and their outlook on life and it is believed that is the key to a successful, long standing, and even wealthy existence.

To understand and recognize the invisible energy, try this exercise:

  • Rub your palms together together rapidly for 1-2 minutes

  • Now, pull your hands apart about 10-12 inches.

  • Bring your hands together slowly without touching them together.

  • Continue to move your hands back and forth like an accordian.

You should be able to feel the energy you have produced between your hands.

So, now that you understand the basics, how do you balance the flow of energy to achieve greater prosperity? One of the best ways is to set up your home and your office or workspace in a ways that promotes the positive chi energy. A Feng Shui home is of paramount importance.
