What are the Seven Chakras?
If you know anything at all about the chakra system, you have probably heard of the seven chakras. However, it may seem a little abstract and intangible to grasp and understand. Rest assured, it's not as odd as you may have envisioned it to be.
The first thing to understand about these chakras is that everyone has them. However, not everyone knows that their body has another system that communicates with every other function in the body. That is why we are here to help you understand the chakra system and later learn to balance your chakras for a naturally healthy lifestyle.
That’s right; everyone has seven chakras in their body. You have seven spinning vortexes that are aligned exactly with the seven central nerve ganglia branching from your spinal column.
Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel or disk. Imagine seven disks spinning through the core of your body. Really, they are there, spinning. Some maybe faster than others, but your chakras are there waiting for you to become aware of them and feel balanced.
Chakras have ancient roots in India and are a part of the philosophies of yoga. Yoga is also a Sanskrit word meaning yoke or union.
There are many types of yoga
, and each practice is designed to yoke the participant to something higher than himself, creating union in the mind and body by forming a healthy chakra system. You see, everything is connected! Isn’t it great!
Think of your body as a computer. Okay, your physical body is the hardware, your mind is the software and your chakra system is the electricity running through your body’s computer to make sure everything perfectly connects. But, guess what? We all have bugs in our computers. We all have insecurities and weaknesses that affect the efficiency of our body’s computer.
Your seven chakras are there to unite your mind and body. By becoming conscious of the seven chakras and learning to balance your chakra system, you can create a mind and body that work together as one.
